Five times Facebook’s fact-checkers got it wrong

Since launching its fact-checking program in 2016, Facebook has worked with more than 100 independent fact-checkers in dozens of countries who review dubious news stories and posts that go viral, labelling them with warnings if they are found to be false.
Although they have helped debunk hundreds of fake news stories and false rumours, there have been several high-profile missteps.
