Hard on the heels of its purchase of 19.99 per cent of rival television program producer Beyond International, FremantleMedia is conducting due diligence on Fairfax Media's Southern Star division.

FremantleMedia is understood to have lodged an application with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission requesting clearance of a takeover of Southern Star.
