Bruce Gordon has quietly retired from the boards of his regional broadcaster WIN and private investment firm Birketu in a move that signals he is stepping back from the day-to-day management of the global media and property fortune he has accumulated over the past 60 years.

The billionaire once struck deals with the titans of global television from his properties in Wollongong, Sydney, London, Monaco and the North Atlantic tax haven of Bermuda, and will remain the ultimate decision maker at Birketu, which is the biggest shareholder in Nine Entertainment.
