Whyalla’s steelworks, part of British industrialist Sanjeev Gupta’s empire, has been unable to operate for a month after issues with its blast furnace.
Having the Whyalla steelworks offline for an extended time will deliver a financial dent to Mr Gupta’s GFG Alliance, which is already struggling with significant debts following the collapse of its chief financier, Greensill.
