Key Points

  • Pacy Group is 49 per cent owned by Raphael Geminder, who was No.108 on the Financial Review Rich List in 2023.
  • Pact will supply supermarket chain Aldi with recyclable packaging, bottles and trays for its home brand products, quadrupling volumes to the chain.
  • CEO Sanjay Dayal says inflation in raw materials has stabilised but prices of those resins and chemicals are staying at very high levels.
  • Mr Dayal is convinced that households will pay a ‘green premium’ for recyclable packaging, but acknowledges the investment needed by Pact is a drag on the share price.

The chief executive of packaging company Pact Group says inflation in raw materials remains stubbornly high, even though prices have stabilised, as he vowed its pursuit of a “green premium” for producing recyclable products would ultimately pay off.

Pact, 49 per cent-owned by Rich Lister Raphael Geminder, has cemented a deal with supermarket chain Aldi to supply fully recyclable bottles, meat trays and fruit and vegetable punnets for the chain’s large array of private label products. It is set to quadruple the amount of packaging it supplies for Aldi products.
