Japanese automakers plan to make 1.3m less cars in 2021
Japanese car makers expect production to be down by at least 1.3 million units in fiscal 2021 because of the global semiconductor shortage and the COVID-19 pandemic in south-east Asia, according to eight major manufacturers.
The cut is equivalent to 5 per cent of the car makers’ total annual production in 2020, when they produced 23.35 million vehicles.
