Incitec warns gas 'pinch point' ahead despite Gibson Island deal

Incitec Pivot managing director Jeanne Johns says the most challenging time for domestic gas consumers may still lie ahead, despite the company securing gas for the next three years at cheaper prices than it is paying today.

The three-year gas deal with the Australia Pacific Liquefied Natural Gas joint venture will ensure Brisbane's struggling Gibson Island fertiliser plant stays open until at least December 31, 2022.
