Dulux says renovators will brush off any shift to ALP
Key Points
- Dulux boss Patrick Houlihan says changes in governments, economic ups and downs, and regulatory shifts haven't restrained the business in the past and he doesn't expect any different beyond May 18.
- Business was subdued in October to December, but has picked up again in the first four months of calendar 2019.
- The many shades of white are still the most popular choice by households wanting to spruce things up.
The managing director of Australia's biggest paints company, Dulux Group, expects the core renovations and maintenance market that makes up two-thirds of its business to be largely unaffected should Labor win Saturday's federal election and implement significant housing policy changes.
Patrick Houlihan said Dulux, which also owns the Selleys and Parchem fillers and handyman brands, had been resilient over the past two decades to economic cycles, political changes and regulatory shifts and he expected that to continue after Saturday.
