Iron Road’s Eyre project a nice gap filler

No one project could fill the void left for the South Australian government by BHP Billiton’s decision to shelve its $30 billion Olympic Dam expansion. But if Iron Road can get its Central Eyre magnetite iron ore development off the ground, it will be a reasonable substitute.

On Monday, Iron Road confirmed it will build a deepwater port on the Eyre Peninsula, ensuring the capital cost for Central Eyre will top $4.5 billion and confirming its status as the second biggest resources project slated for the state behind Olympic Dam.
