Wagners wins $35m Adani Carmichael contract
But Australian Conservation Foundation campaigner Christian Slattery said activists would continue protesting until "the Galilee Basin coal stays in the ground”.
Queensland construction group Wagners hopes to deepen its relationship with Adani after securing an initial $35 million contract to operate a quarry that will supply materials to build the Indian energy giant's controversial $2 billion Carmichael coal mine.
Family-controlled Wagners has been in talks with Adani over potential work on the mine for more than a year despite pressure from activists opposed to the mine telephoning Wagners executives to warn the company's operations will be disrupted if it starts any work for the Indian conglomerate.
