The NSW government will roll out land swaps and a buyback scheme to flood-stricken homeowners in northern NSW as part of a multibillion-dollar plan to protect the region against future inundations.
NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet was frank that the bold plan, similar to a scheme rolled out by the Queensland government after the Grantham floods in 2011, will rely on joint federal funding. He was unable to put a cost on the project.
