Engineering outfit Cardno is on to its sixth permanent chief executive in five years, after the shock resignation of Ian Ball on Monday.

Mr Ball’s departure from Cardno comes despite company documentation in a demerger only two months ago saying he would stay on running the Brisbane-based business with more than 4000 staff.
