CIMIC’s Thiess snaps up WA contractor MACA

Perth-based construction group MACA has urged shareholders to accept a $356 million takeover bid from foreign-owned mining group Thiess, further reducing the numbers of Australian-owned contractors.

Thiess, which is jointly owned by Spanish-controlled construction company CIMIC and the US hedge fund Elliott Management, made a cash offer for $1.025 per share for MACA, which specialises in mining services.
