The chief executive of concrete and asphalt group Boral says the construction industry takes up to six weeks to return to full strength after lockdowns end, as he warned of tough times ahead.

Zlatko Todorcevski said Boral expected to suffer a $50 million hit to profits in the September quarter of 2021-22 because of the brakes on construction work in lockdowns and it has also decided to sell its large fly ash business in the United States.
