Key Points

  • Developer Commercial & General says it has tackled “head on” an angry minority which had meant the site was idle for 34 years.
  • Rich Lister billionaire Con Makris gave up on his plans to develop the site six years ago and says the red tape and local council blocking generally in Australia is a ‘disgrace’.
  • Mt Barker in the Adelaide Hills is one of the fastest-growing regions in Australia but there’s transport infrastructure headaches as the population double.
