Madeleine is only in her early 40s, but she has already lost “a significant amount of hair” twice.

Her first episode, at 24, was triggered by stress as she cared for her terminally ill parents. You had to look closely to see the thin patches though, she says, and it grew back within a couple of years. The second episode, at 35, was also caused by stress, but was more severe.
