New Primary Health Care chief Malcolm Parmenter is not afraid of a challenge.

Not only did the 62-year-old run the New York City marathon last year, he is a foster parent to a five-year-old girl. Both demanding and hard to prepare for, Dr Parmenter's roles outside work would have placed him on solid footing as he looks to steer the under-pressure healthcare company he joined just three weeks ago.
