Healthscope vows to terminate Bupa deal if it does not accept fees

Healthscope has written to Bupa and other health funds threatening to terminate their funding contracts unless they agree to introduce clauses into agreements allowing it to slug their members additional fees of up to $100 to use its private hospitals.

Healthscope, the country’s second-biggest private hospital group, has hit a potential legal roadblock in its campaign to get more money from insurers by imposing additional one-off charges on patients.
