Call for medical supply overhaul after IV fluid shortage shock
Doctors and patient groups are calling for an overhaul of the way critical medical supplies are procured and distributed following an acute shortage of intravenous IV fluid bags in Australia that they warn threatens to delay life-saving surgeries.
State and federal health ministers met in Sydney on Friday to discuss the shortage, which has triggered claims by the opposition that the Albanese government had failed to act on a problem identified a year ago.
