Australia’s largest privately-owned pharmaceutical company says the nation needs to work to mitigate its exposure to unstable and easily disrupted global supply chains during international health crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dennis Bastas, chief executive and founder of Arrotex Pharmaceuticals, says importing more than 90 per cent of vital medicines is no longer an economically wise approach, nor is it in Australia’s national security interest.
