WA gaming regulator says media forced out top casino officer
The chairman of Western Australia’s Gaming and Wagering Commission says the state’s chief casino officer stood down only because of media attention on his friendship and fishing trips with staff at Crown Perth.
In evidence to the WA royal commission into Crown on Monday, Duncan Ord said media coverage suggesting a potential conflict of interest caused chief casino officer Michael Connolly to stand aside in February soon after the Bergin report in NSW was handed down.
