Star tells lenders it has one week of cash as it teeters on the brink

Star Entertainment has told lenders it is one week away from running out of cash and has sought regulatory clearance for an administrator to take control of the group should it fail to secure a fresh injection of funds.

The operator of casinos in Sydney, Gold Coast and Brisbane was on the brink of collapse on Friday evening and had yet to lock in a short-term funding deal, according to several people involved in the discussions.
