Prominent Perth businessman and Future Fund board member John Poynton has bowed to intense pressure from the NSW casino regulator, quitting the Crown Resorts board immediately despite a scathing report into the gaming giant suggesting he was an integral part of its rebuild.

Mr Poynton is the sixth director to resign following the release of Patricia Bergin’s report last month, which found the casino company was unsuitable to hold a licence in NSW.
