Being forced to sell most of his Crown stake puts a brutal exclamation mark on James Packer’s relationship with the casino giant.
Crown Resorts turned from a source of pride for James Packer to a source of pain a long time ago. But with the release of the final report and recommendations from Victoria’s royal commission into Crown on Tuesday, Commissioner Ray Finkelstein turned the screws again.
Finkelstein ultimately decided Crown should be allowed to continue to operate its Melbourne casino, albeit under unprecedented scrutiny from a special manager who will have veto rights over any decision made by the board.
