Crown queries Victoria’s $30m tax proposal

Crown Resorts has disputed the Victorian government’s calculation of its proposed higher tax rate on 2600 poker machines at Crown Melbourne.
Crown says the tax could reduce its earnings by between $35 million and $40 million, based on 2019 earnings, the last year the James Packer backed group’s activity was unaffected by pandemic-induced lockdowns and a collapse in tourism.
