Crown cops record $80m fine for ‘clandestine’ China UnionPay scheme
The Victorian gaming watchdog has slapped Crown Resorts with a record $80 million fine over its China UnionPay scheme, in which almost $164 million was illegally churned through its Melbourne casino in a “clandestine process” that brought “handsome” benefit to the company.
It is the first time the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission has used its tougher powers to sanction the casino giant.
