ASIC claims Star directors ‘merely ornaments’ in flood of warnings

A Star Entertainment executive signed a major commercial contract with a large Macau junket operator despite issuing two warnings to the same firm for suspicious conduct inside a private gambling room in its casino.

The claim against Star’s then-chief casino officer, Greg Hawkins, was made by Ruth Higgins, SC, who is acting for the Australian Securities and Investments Commission in a blockbuster six-week Federal Court hearing.
