Directors do not need to own shares to prove faith in a company, says the chairwoman of regional bank Auswide.

Acknowledging her views on stock ownership – known as “skin in the game” – would be considered wrong by some, Auswide chairwoman Sandra Birkensleigh argued she believed a truly independent director actually should not own any shares.
