UBS drafts in Gail Kelly as Credit Suisse takeover ramps up

Swiss bank UBS has nominated former Westpac and St George chief executive Gail Kelly to its board as it proceeds with the challenge of integrating Credit Suisse, which it was forced to acquire in a shotgun merger last year.

The bank cited Mrs Kelly’s time at St George and Westpac, where she oversaw a merger between the pair in 2008. After leaving Westpac in 2015, she became a senior global adviser to the CEO and board of UBS, and is also a director at Optus owner Singtel.
