The pluses and minuses of Elliott’s ANZ legacy

How the outgoing CEO’s tenure is regarded will hinge on the long-term outcomes of his two signature projects.

As The Australian Financial Review exclusively revealed on Monday, ANZ chief executive Shayne Elliott, currently the nation’s longest-serving major bank chief, will retire in July next year.

He will be replaced by the former head of wealth and personal banking at HSBC, Nuno Matos, who resigned from the London-based bank in last August after missing out on the global chief executive role.
