Shipton litigation era ends with Longo shake-up
When then financial services minister Kelly O’Dwyer held a press conference in October 2017 announcing James Shipton’s appointment as head of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, the incoming chairman told reporters he was “a big believer in using regulatory tools strategically”.
“I intend to ensure that ASIC will be a strong, proactive, efficient, innovative and strategic regulator that will utilise its many regulatory tools, including gatekeeping, supervising and enforcement,” he said.
