Latitude rules out ransom, restores operations
Latitude Financial says it will not pay a ransom to the cybercriminals who stole data belonging to 14 million past and present customers in what was one of the largest breaches in Australian history.
The instalment pay and credit card company said it “will not reward criminal behaviour” and it does not believe “paying a ransom will result in the return or destruction of the information that was stolen”. It did not specify the amount being demanded from the criminals.
