Insurer QBE lifts wages twice in three months

Inflationary pressures have pushed insurer QBE to fast-track a 3 per cent pay rise to almost 11,000 staff by almost nine months, costing tens of millions of dollars.

The Sydney-based insurer, which provides cover from US crop protection to Australian home insurance, said the wage increase in July came with staff “bearing a relatively major cost-of-living increase in fuel and food and other things”.
