How to be valued at $US5b without audited accounts

Animoca Brands, the private company that wants to be at the centre of the metaverse, has just finalised another equity raising, valuing the company at $5 billion.

It can be hard to know where to look with Animoca Brands, the unlisted digital assets group that wants to be at the centre of the metaverse.

The group – a backer of more than 340 gaming, crypto and digital assets – just weeks ago defied the tech gloom to close another $US75 million ($104.5 million before costs) equity raising. It was its fifth equity raising since the start of last year, and at the same $4.50 a share price that it struck in January, despite the deepening crypto and tech rout.
