Investors punting on the "weight of money" argument to prop up their portfolios and guarantee solid capital gains could have the rug pulled out from under them, Clime Capital chairman Roger Montgomery says.

He said yesterday that although the large inflow of superannuation funds into equities was helping support share prices, if company earnings disappointed this season stocks would ultimately retreat.
