Commonwealth Bank is experimenting with new technology that alerts customers visiting the international departure lounge at Australia’s airports to the best ways to avoid excess foreign exchange fees while travelling overseas.

The feature is the latest in a series of "nudges" rolled out by the bank that are delivered via smartphone and designed to promote better financial decision making.
