Bureaucrats’ super fund ratchets up bonuses

The $50 billion superannuation fund for public servants was forced to jack up bonuses for its investment team to stop them from quitting while it was having trouble attracting and retaining key staff.

The Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation, which targets a lower annual rate of return than the average super fund, hired big four consultancy KPMG to review its bonus structure after several employees quit for new jobs that offered the prospect of larger incentive payments.
