Woodside laments NW Shelf future under minority government ‘nightmare’

A minority Labor government dependent on the support of the Greens and teals would be a nightmare scenario not just for the prospects of the North West Shelf gas venture but for every household energy user in Australia, says Woodside boss Meg O’Neill.

O’Neill, who is waiting on federal government approval for a 40-year extension to Western Australia’s oldest gas plant, described the position taken by the Greens and the teals to oppose the project off WA’s coast as “terrible” because it would facilitate greater reliance on coal.
