Victorian government urged to reveal coal power ‘sweetheart’ deal
The Victorian opposition is demanding the Labor government release details of a secret deal with EnergyAustralia to keep the Yallourn coal power station running, claiming the public are entitled to greater transparency amid the current energy crisis.
Director of the energy and climate change program at Grattan Institute Tony Wood agreed it was “terrible” the public did not know the details of the deal, as Victoria and South Australia joined Queensland and NSW in having price controls imposed by the regulators amid the escalating energy crisis.
