VicGrid to oversee renewables connections

Victoria will set up its own body to plan and lead investments in electricity transmission needed to connect renewable energy resources in the state, in an apparent further splintering of the national approach to energy development.

A new body called VicGrid will manage the development of the state’s six renewable energy zones, oversee related investments to beef up the grid, and work with local communities and traditional owners to ensure they benefit, according to state Energy Minister Lily D’Ambrosio.
