Kendra Harris is conflicted about AI – the technology will boost her career prospects, but she finds its environmental cost difficult to ignore.

“We were already struggling to reach emissions targets before AI became mainstream, and I find it very off-putting when I hear how much energy AI uses,” the 23-year-old University of NSW law and commerce student said.
