Small manufacturers scramble for gas from Shell

Small manufacturers have moved to source gas from Shell’s retail arm after the energy giant said it would resume sales negotiations to avoid punishment from the Australian Consumer and Competition Commission.

Shell said on Monday it would end a near six-week suspension on contracting new gas sales and offer an additional 8 petajoules (PJ) of gas for delivery this year, a decision that has excited some small manufacturers which have rushed to try and source new supplies.
