Santos has increased the budget for its troubled Barossa gas project by as much as $US300 million ($456.1 million) after suffering regulatory delays and legal challenges that slowed development.

The start-up date for the Timor Sea project has also been put back, to the third quarter of 2025 from the first half, a delay that is shorter than some analysts have been anticipating.
