Power tariffs may not drop as much as hoped

Wholesale power prices have barely moved from where they were a year ago, casting fresh doubt on expectations for a big drop in retail electricity tariffs from July 1.
The wholesale price that will feed into the calculation for setting benchmark power tariffs for 2024-25 is within a few dollars of the price used 12 months earlier, according to adviser Energy Edge, unlike spot prices, which have plunged in value.
