Origin Energy signs up for more gas offshore Victoria
Origin Energy has won a competitive tender for gas from Cooper Energy's Casino Henry venture off the Victorian coast in a further move by domestic suppliers to make more gas available locally and fend off the risk of LNG export curbs.
The contract, which Cooper said was agreed at "current market prices", involves up to 13 petajoules of gas to be supplied in 2019. It extends for 12 months a deal Origin's retailing arm has to buy gas from the fields in the Otway Basin, which is sold on to households, manufacturers and power stations.
