For all the differences of opinion between the incumbent directors of oil and gas play Molopo Energy and the rebel shareholders vying for their spots, both sides can agree on one thing: today’s shareholder vote looks set to be exceptionally close.

The decision eight weeks ago by a high-profile group of investors to call for an overhaul of the Molopo board has, if nothing else, tapped a vein of discontent among the company’s shareholders. Whether that vein runs sufficiently deep to prompt the board changes desired by the rebels will be known shortly after 10am.
