Metgasco drops NSW drilling ambitions in return for $25m

Broadcaster Alan Jones won a battle in his war against coal seam gas when the NSW government caved in to pressure and bought out the last coal-seam gas driller active in the state's sensitive Northern Rivers region.
The NSW government on Monday said it would pay gas explorer Metgasco $25 million to end drilling in the region.
