Greta Thunberg and other activists showed up at a panel at the COP26 climate summit to raise awareness about the dangers of relying on carbon offsets to cut emissions.
Her presence drew a crush of people into the meeting space despite social distancing rules. The Swedish environmentalist sat at the back of the room but tweeted earlier in the day that fossil fuel companies and banks are trying to “give polluters a free pass to keep polluting”.
