GetUp! takes aim at Shell’s new electricity retailer

Shell’s acquisition of online green retailer Powershop faces a campaign by GetUp! urging its 185,000 customers to abandon the very retailer the activist group helped grow in the first place.

Undoing years of campaigning in which it mobilised tens of thousands of customers to switch to Powershop, GetUp! told members on Tuesday it had cut ties with the retailer and urged customers to axe their electricity plans following the multinational oil and gas giant’s takeover.
