Germany looks for accelerator in drive for green energy

A decade ago, Chancellor Angela Merkel pulled off a dramatic U-turn by abandoning her backing of nuclear energy following Japan’s Fukushima nuclear disaster and staking the future of the biggest economy in Europe on switching to a green economy through an Energiewende, or energy turnaround.
